ServiceNow Expands AI with Data.World Acquisition

Hot on the heels of its $2.85 billion Moveworks acquisition in March, ServiceNow is continuing its AI-focused expansion by acquiring Data.World, a cloud-native data catalog and governance platform based in Austin, Texas.

Founded in 2015, Data.World raised $50 million in its Series C round in 2022, with backing from firms like Alumni Ventures, Prologis Ventures, and Shasta Ventures. The platform has been a critical player in helping businesses organize and govern their data, making it a perfect fit for ServiceNow’s mission to scale AI automation.

This acquisition will allow ServiceNow customers to leverage better data infrastructure and AI-ready tools. As SVP Gaurav Rewari puts it, the transition to "agentic AI" requires tackling what he calls "data hell," and Data.World's expertise will help streamline the process. ServiceNow’s move aligns with its broader strategy of combining internal development with strategic acquisitions, positioning itself at the forefront of enterprise automation.

Design. Build. Publish. Figma does it all

Image: Figma

Figma just went from your favorite canvas to a full-blown creative command center.

In a bold swing at Canva, Adobe, and AI-site builders like Wix and Replit, Figma unveiled a suite of AI-powered tools to design, prototype, publish, and even manage content—all without leaving the platform. The spotlight is Figma Sites, which lets users spin up full websites from prototypes and edit them collaboratively with transitions, animations, and an upcoming built-in CMS. Yes, blog posts and slugs included.

Then there’s Figma Make—think of it as your digital imagination engine. Plug in a prompt and watch a working web app take shape, editable by both creatives and coders alike. Sprinkle in micro-interactions like clocks or stock tickers using AI-generated code.

Marketers aren’t left behind either. Figma Buzz empowers them to bulk-create branded assets from templates, complete with AI image tools and spreadsheet-powered batch generation. And Figma Draw finally brings robust vector editing in-house—say goodbye to Illustrator detours.

While Figma insists it's not directly battling Adobe or Canva, its expanding toolkit—including a new $8/month content seat—says otherwise. One thing’s clear: Figma’s no longer just where designs start; it’s where they ship.

Google's Gen Z glow-up won’t fix its iPhone problem

Image: 9to5Google

Bold colors, bubbly fonts, and Gen Z vibes — Google’s new Android design, dubbed Material You Three, is loud, expressive, and trying hard to be cool. It’s the most-researched design update in Android’s history, tested with over 18,000 people, and it’s aiming straight at the youth demo. The interface leans into pinks, purples, and corals, offering full customization and a clear effort to shake off Android’s “dad phone” reputation.

Even Google’s research says younger users found the new look more appealing — but let’s be honest, no font size or color palette will override the social clout of iMessage blue bubbles in the U.S. Teens don’t want the green bubble stigma, and being “fascinating” won’t fix that.

Plain truth: Apple’s grip on the younger crowd isn’t a UI issue — it’s an ecosystem one. Until Google cracks the iMessage wall or regulators force Apple’s hand, Material Three’s candy-colored charm may win hearts, but it won’t win users.

iPhone 17 Air: Thin, Pricey, and Power-Hungry

Image: Sillycorns YT

Apple is going on a diet, and the iPhone 17 Air is the showstopper. Whisper-thin, sleek, and engineered to impress influencers and minimalist fanatics, this device is Apple’s boldest design flex in years—but here’s the catch: it might come with a heavy tradeoff for everyday users.

Sources suggest that while the iPhone 17 Air may look like a marvel, it’ll pack a smaller battery that might not last the full day for most users. Reports peg its all-day battery confidence between 60–70%, far below the 80–90% comfort zone of its chunkier siblings. Apple’s rumoured solution? A battery case—because nothing says “innovation” like selling the fix separately. And that’s not all: to fit its supermodel frame, Apple is reportedly ditching the second speaker and sticking with just one rear camera. Form over function? You bet.

Interestingly, the iPhone 17 Air's design looks like it's inspired by the Google Pixel, with a more rounded, minimalist aesthetic that breaks from recent iPhone norms.

And the cherry on top? A likely $900+ price tag. Add a battery pack and potential tariff hikes, and the thinnest iPhone might just thicken your wallet’s pain. Apple’s skinny gamble could make headlines for more than just its profile—especially if buyers feel they’re paying more to get less.
